Buttery Pie Crust

Super simple 4 ingredient pie crust that takes maybe 30 minutes to make! It's a buttery soft pie crust that is sure to complement any pie crust without all the store bought additives!
Prep Time 30 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 2 Pie Crusts

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Sticks Butter softened
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Water

Method

  1. You can either use a bowl and your hands, just the counter and your hands, a food processor, or a mixer with a dough attachment for mixing your dough together. I clean my counter really well and pour the flour on the counter in a pile then make an indent in the middle with the measuring cup.
  2. Take the butter and cut it into pieces -add that to the flour, along with the salt and a little bit of water. You might not use all of the water, so pour in about 2 tablespoons at a time.
  3. Next, mix everything together. I use softened butter because it makes it so much easier to mix BUT it doesn't make the crust as flakey, so if you want flakier crust don't soften your butter, leave it cold. The crust is great either way! When you're mixing you will need to add water until your dough is a soft and smooth dough ball.
  4. Lightly flour a surface on your counter and a rolling pin. Split your dough in half and roll our each dough ball separately. I roll mine out until it's about 1/2" thick and about 2" larger around than the pie dish you're using.
  5. From here you can either roll the dough in parchment paper and plastic wrap and freeze it or use it right away. Depending on the type of pie you're making you may need to bake the pie crust before you add in your pie filling, I suggest using some sort of pie weight to keep the crust from bubbling up and cracking on the bottom.
You can use the extra to make little pie crust cookies to go on your pie or just to eat!
    Enjoy!
