Chocolate Chip Cookie with Fudge Frosting

Chocolate fudge sundae in cookie form…yes please!

You WON’T regret making this chocolate chip cookie recipe, but you will regret not trying it!

HELPFUL HINT:
When baking your cookies, every oven is different and it can be difficult to get just the right crispy edge but soft chewy cookie! I personally will put the cookies on the top rack of the oven first for about 5-6 minutes and then put them on the middle/bottom rack for another 5 minutes. They won’t always look completely done when you pull them out of the oven- THAT’S OK – pull them out of the oven and leave them on the baking sheet for a couple minutes to set up before moving them to a towel to cool off.

This recipe makes about 10-12 cookies, depending on how big you make them!

What You’ll Need

Cookies

  • 2 Sticks Butter (or 1 Cup Shortening)
  • 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tsp Chocolate Whiskey (or Vanilla)
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Cups Chocolate Chips

Frosting

  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese
  • 2 Tsp Vanilla
  • ½ Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 4 Tbsp Chocolate Syrup
  • 4 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • Mini Chocolate Chips (topping)

How To Make ’em

For the COOKIES

In a large bowl combine shortening, brown sugar, and sugar. Once completely combined, add in the eggs and chocolate whiskey. Then while mixing on low, add in your baking soda, and flour. Once completely combined fold in the chocolate chips.

Scoop onto a grease baking sheet and put in the oven at 350 F for roughly 8-12 minutes. This depends on how chewy you want your cookies. I mainly look for the edges to just start to be golden brown.

For the FROSTING

In a large bowl whip together the butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Then on low speed add in the vanilla, cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, and powdered sugar. Once completely combined, turn the mixer on medium/high speed for a couple minutes to let the frosting become a whipped fluffy texture.

Once the cookies are cooled, pipe on your frosting however you’d like and sprinkle small mini chocolate chips or shaved chocolate on top!

You can sub the chocolate whiskey for vanilla if you don’t have that! I love to use Bird Dog Chocolate Whiskey in my chocolate chip cookies!

Store these in an airtight container in the fridge!

Enjoy cold or put them in the microwave (yes, frosting and all) for about 8 seconds! This will make it taste just like a hot fudge sundae!

    Instructions

      Cookies

    1. In a large bowl combine shortening, brown sugar, and sugar. Once completely combined, add in the eggs and chocolate whiskey.
Then while mixing on low, add in your baking soda, and flour.
Once completely combined fold in the chocolate chips.
    2. Scoop onto a grease baking sheet and put in the oven at 350 F for roughly 8-12 minutes. This depends on how chewy you want your cookies. I mainly look for the edges to just start to be golden brown but the centers to still look doughy.
When you pull them out of the oven let them sit on the baking sheet for a couple more minutes to set up and then use a spatula to move them to a clean towel to cool.
    3. Frosting
