Keeping Your Garden Natural

Yep, you read that right, lets go back to natural and still get green results! Sounds good right?

It might take a little bit extra work, but you’ll be able to get true organic produce without paying the organic grocery store price and know exactly where it came from!

I LOVE harvesting everything that I worked so hard for all year long! There is just something so soothing and beneficial about harvesting your own homegrown produce, knowing exactly how it grew, and what’s in it!

Now What’s The Catch?

There’s not one!

I repeat, there’s not a catch!

The tricks to growing a garden full of green and colorful produce are
patience,
water,
sunshine,
nutritious dirt,
warmth,
and care!

I’m not joking, I watch my little babies grow from seed to produce every year and these are the only things I use!
When I started our garden we didn’t have a lot of money to put towards it, in fact this was part of the reason I was growing a garden, to cut down on our grocery bills.
So I start some of my seeds in smaller pots with some soil and then other seeds such as, corn & pumpkins, I put straight into the ground.

Having a greenhouse or something to resemble a greenhouse to keep your seedlings warm during the cold nights and cloudy days is a must! It allows us to harvest a lot earlier in the year and I strongly believe it helps get the seeds started than in the ground.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have 100% success rate with my seeds. Just like everybody else, I have some seeds that just don’t take and I have to replant, which puts a damper on my plan but that’s ok! It could be a lot worse!
You could wake up one day an your chickens have gotten out and have ate all of your sprouts…not that I speak from experience or anything!

Everyday I go out to check on my sprouts, water them, make sure they are warm enough, and leave them alone.
How do you think farming originally started? No chemicals, feeds, sprays, anything. Just plain ol’ planting and growing. Now I will preface that by saying that there are so many natural fertilizers out there they we have found over the years that come from “nature.” Such as animal manure, oils, compost, companion & rotating planting.
I let nature run its course and pray that my plants will grow happy and healthy!
