Making Your Own Skin Care

Yes, I was that teenager that wanted to wear makeup and was just looking for the cheap skin care and hair care that was popular. After realizing how reactive my skin was and how damaged my hair was, while also realizing how bad the store bought items were for you, I needed to change what I was using. I know they sell stuff that is good for you but I couldn’t afford those big prices, or I realized that I could spend just as much on all of these essential oils and other ingredients to make 10x the amount that I was going to buy in one product.

Collagen Body Butter

This non-greasy & great smelling body butter is great for hydrating the skin!
I put this on every night before bed and I love it! It works great for calloused hands and feet!
A little bit goes a long way so this is long lasting!

  • 6 Tbsp collagen peptides
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 5oz tallow
  • 2oz beeswax
  • 10 drops vitamin E oil
  • 40 drops chamomile EO
  • 10 drops lavender bergamot EO blend
  • 150 drops leucidal complete -plant based preservative
  1. Melt your collagen peptides in the hot water.
  2. In a double boiler add in the tallow & beeswax. Set on medium/high heat and stir until melted.
  3. Once melted, turn off the heat and add in the vitamin E oil, chamomile oil, lavender bergamot blend oil, and the leucidal complete.
  4. Then add in your collagen mixture and let cool.
  5. Once it has started to harden but is still kind of soft you want to use an immersion blender to turn it into butter/lotion form.
  6. Once it is creamy, pour it into a jar and you are ready to go!

Why do you have to use a preservative? Because you have to melt the collagen peptides in water to make them dissolve, and using the water in an oil based mixture requires the use of a preservative.

Magnesium Lotion

Heard of the famous “put your baby to sleep lotion?” Yep, soothing and great for the body!
-This makes a regular size mason jar full.

  • 3 tbsp boiling water
  • 3 tbsp magnesium flakes
  • 2 oz shea butter
  • 1 oz beeswax
  • 2.5oz coconut oil
  • 20 drops lavender EO
  • 80 drops sandalwood EO
  • 5 drops jojoba oil
  • 200 drops leucidal complete-plant based preservative.

Melt your magnesium flakes in the boiling water.
2. In a double boiler, on medium/high heat, melt the shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil.
3. Once melted, remove from heat and add in the lavender EO, sandalwood EO, jojoba oil, leucidal complete, and the magnesium mixture.
4. When the mixture has started to cool, use an immersion blender to turn it into a lotion!
5. When the mixture is creamy, pour it into a jar or lotion bottle and it’s ready to use!

Why do you have to use a preservative? Because you have to melt the magnesium flakes in water to make them dissolve, and using the water in an oil based mixture requires the use of a preservative.
