How To Make Natural Leather Conditioner

3 simple ingredients & 10 minutes to make, it’s so easy, it’s natural, and it truly works!

Our leather couch needed a LOT of help! We have 3 dogs and had moved twice and I had just let it go… this poor couch needed some love!

How To Make It

Ingredients:
.8 oz Beeswax
1.2 oz Shea Butter
2 Tbsp Sweet Almond Oil

Directions:

  1. You’ll need a double boiler (I don’t have one so I just used a medium sized glass bowl and my small saucepan because the bowl sat on the pot well enough to work perfect for what I needed). On your scale place the bowl you’re going to melt your ingredients in, then zero it out (the scale should read 0.0 when your empty bowl is sitting on it).
  2. Measure out your beeswax and then add your shea butter (so together in the bowl they should equal 2.0 oz).
  3. Fill the bottom part of your double boiler (in this case my small pot) about halfway with water and turn the stove on medium/high heat. Place your bowl on top and let it start to melt.
  4. Once it starts to melt, stir it until the mixture is completely dissolved.
  5. Once it’s dissolved, turn off the heat and add in your almond oil.
  6. Stir this really well and the pour it into a ball jar. This batch makes a tiny ball jar full, so if you want more, just double or triple the recipe!
  7. It will take a while to set up because it needs to cool down and then harden. I made this the night before and used it the nest day but you could definitely make it in the morning and use it in the evening.
  8. Don’t forget to label your jar!

Once it’s set up store it in a cool dry place! I just store mine with the rest of my cleaning supplies.

Putting It To Use

I needed to refinish a leather couch for this specific project but I use this on our cowboy boots and my husbands work boots also!

Clean your surface!
I vacuumed & then used my thieves spray cleaner and wiped down the entire couch.
Let it dry completely before using the conditioner!

I just use a dry washcloth and grab  a good amount of conditioner and then make circular motions on the couch.
On some parts I went back and did a 2nd & 3rd coat because it was so dry!
Before (top) & after (bottom)!

It took me about a hour to do all of the seat cushions & armrests but it was so worth it! The couch is SO MUCH BETTER and soft now!
I just store this in the cabinet with my cleaning supplies, so it’s ready for next time! (and I won’t wait as long to condition my poor couch again!)
