These are a household favorite and almost a weekly recipe used! I used to love these as a kid and a couple years ago was dreaming of them, so I got out the mixing bowls and ingredients and got to work recreating a childhood favorite! Now they’re an adult favorite too!

How To Make ’em
First you’ll need to make your dough. You can either use a bread machine for this or just do it the simple old fashioned way.
Old fashioned way:
In a large bowl pour in 1 cup of warm water, 1 tsp yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Let this sit until it starts to get foamy at the top (about 5 minutes).
Then add in 1 tsp of salt and 3 cups of flour. Stir until completely combined. I use a mixer with a dough hook attachment. Make sure that sucker is locked down!
Once the dough is completely combined and smooth, place into a large greased bowl. Cover with either a towel or plastic wrap and let rise for about 2 hours. ~I will usually set my bowl in the sun on the counter to rise.~
Using a bread machine:
If you’re using a bread machine, it is a lot easier!
All you’re going to do is pour in your warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, and flour into the bread machine bucket, turn it to the DOUGH setting, and press start.
It does the mixing for you, the heating for you, rising, and kneading… kneed I say more…hahaha but no really it does wonders for the dough!
While the dough is rising you can whip your filling up! I really mean it….whip the cream cheese and whatever flavor you’re adding.
I have done these with just using whipped cream cheese, but personally I like adding yogurt to the cream cheese for the “plain filling.” I use the plain filling for the everything bagel seasoned ones.
So I whip together 4 oz (1/2 brick) of cream cheese and 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt until smooth.
For the flavored filling, which I use in the cinnamon sugar seasoned ones, I mix the cream cheese with strawberry jam OR blueberry butter.
Once your dough has doubled in size and your filling is ready you can start making your dough balls!
Take a small handful of dough…yes I realize that everyone’s hands are different sizes, but as long as all of your bagel bombs are the same size they will bake just fine! SO take a small palm full of dough and flatten it out in your hand, then add about a teaspoon of filling to the center.

Then you’ll want to fold your end together and roll the ball until completely sealed and round. You don’t want any openings in your dough or else when they are baking your filling will spill out.
I usually pinch all my sides together and then roll around in my palm.
Place them on a greased cookie sheet!

But wait! There’s more!
Next you’re going to brush each bagel bomb with an egg wash (1 egg & 1 tbsp water-whisked together).

Once they are all nicely coated in the egg wash, immediately add your topping. Don’t let them dry or else your topping won’t stick.
You’ll just sprinkle either the everything bagel seasoning or cinnamon sugar on top.
Again, I usually just add the everything bagel seasoning to the plain filled ones, and the cinnamon sugar to the fruit flavored ones.
You can really add any fruit or topping combo that you want!
Get creative in the kitchen!

Bake these puppies at 350 for about 20-30 minutes, depending on how big your bombs are! Watch for the top to separate a little and they will be a golden brown and firm to the touch.

BEAUTIFUL!
Enjoy these warm!
I usually bake these in big batches and keep them either in a big container in the freezer or the fridge for throughout the week….these do not last very long in our house!
About 10-30 seconds in the microwave will do ya if you’re pulling it out of the fridge!

Instructions
- For Bread Machine: Pour all of your ingredients into your bread machine basin and turn it to the “dough” setting and press “start” – mine reads 1.5 hours.
For Old Fashioned Way: In a large bowl pour in 1 cup of warm water, 1 tsp yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar.
~I will usually set my bowl in the sun on the counter to rise.~ - In a small bowl mix together your filling ingredients. If you want flavored filling, feel free to replace the yogurt with any kind of jam or jelly!
Once your dough is ready, take small handfuls of dough to make your dough balls -you should get roughly 20 dough balls, but you ca make these however big or small you’d like! - Now that you have all your dough balls, take each one and flatten it in your palm and add in about a teaspoon of the filling. Then pinch the dough together really tight!
- Lay each stuffed dough ball on. greased baking sheet roughly 2″ apart and brush the tops with the egg and water mixture. Then sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top or whatever topping you would like!
- Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes (depending on the size of your dough balls this might fluctuate)! Watch to see when they are golden brown and the tops are slightly cracked and they are firm to the touch.
- Enjoy warm!
Once cooled put them in a container and store in the fridge.
You can also store these in the freezer for future use if you want to just stock up!
