This truly is the dessert you can’t get enough of!
This is one of my all time favorite fall desserts!
We picked a bucket full of apples from our apple trees, we obviously won’t use this whole bucket to make this dessert but it just makes me feel so good knowing we didn’t buy these apples at the store!
So first, you’ll need to wash, and slice about 6 apples.
Now I know that apples are all different sizes, just make sure they are an average size apple, not super tiny, but not huge.

Next, combine the base ingredients: apples, sugar, flour, & cinnamon and stir this until apple slices are completely coated.
Then, in a small glass bowl stir together the caramel & milk. This might take a minute to stir and you may need to heat up your caramel to make it more workable- sometimes I just throw the caramel in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Make sure you stir this until its completely combined.
Then pour this mixture into a 12” cast iron pan. (you can also use a 9″x13″ baking dish)
Now, for the crisp part-
In a medium bowl stir together the topping ingredients: flour, brown sugar, butter, & oats. Pour on this top of apples in the cast iron pan.
And now for the part that pulls it all together!
In a small bowl stir together the caramel, milk, & bourbon. Drizzle this over the top covering as much as you can!
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until the edges are browning. I have also made this in the smoker and it was amazing, just added some smokiness to it which really enhanced the bourbon!
Your caramel sauce on top should be bubbling!
Enjoy warm with vanilla bean ice cream or with a cold glass of milk…or some bourbon on the rocks!
I love the crispy edges, ENJOY!
